Maintenance is the key.

Ben Wasson here, I was born in Portland, Oregon: I was brought up in a community of top notch musicians from Clackamas and PSU. Working as a orchestra pit percussionist and a cruise ship party drummer. I got my piano repair start at Classic Pianos in 2015 maintaining their bargain basement pianos. After awhile, I was hired with Artisan Pianos in 2017 and did a 9 month rebuilding apprenticeship. There, I learned to take apart and reassemble many high end grands and uprights. The knowledge of maintaining and caring for each instrument properly is invaluable. From there I spent 4 years as a field technician where I performed all levels of piano care. Tuning high end Bøsendorfers to the FREE craigslist pianos. Pedal and Lyre repairs for grands or replacing pedal springs for uprights. I gained considerable experience in full grand action and upright action repairs to improve performance and tone. Always finding a path to make each instrument work best for the player. Certified with the Piano Technician Academy, this variety of knowledge prepared me for any scenario as a technician. My goal for each instrument is to bring it to its fullest potential.

“An experience based instrument”

As a philosophy, pianos are not just for aesthetics. They are an experience based instrument that is meant to immerse you into its world to create music. Keeping your piano maintained creates a positive feedback loop that will keep you creating music for your own joy. My background is in drumset and percussion performance. I know from personal experience that if your instrument is not well maintained, it is not much fun to play. If your piano is not performing at its best, I can help.

Maintenance is the key to most pianos.  A tuned, regulated and voiced piano makes the experience of making music more enjoyable. Without a doubt, my skills and attention to sonic detail will keep your piano sounding great.
